Accident Takes Three Horses' Lives at Fonner Park
An accident during the final race March 3 at Fonner Park took the lives of two racehorses and an outrider's pony. Three jockeys and the outrider were hospitalized. One rider broke an arm, another fractured a finger, a third was treated and released.

Former Trainer Scherer Shot to Death at Fonner Park
Former trainer Todd Scherer was shot in a tack room at one of the barns at Fonner Park the morning of March 10, according to KLIN News. Scherer, 62, was found dead from gunshot wounds.
